We all know the issue that happened a while back with Vick and the dogs. However, now it seems that the dog that had been labeled as being the meanest of them all is doing fantastic in his new environment.

Lucas has been in the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary for four years now due to a court order that was put into place.  Lucas is going to be spending the rest of his life at this Animal Sanctuary however it seems that he has adjusted and is doing just fine.

When people come to the sanctuary you would never suspect that this was once one of the meanest dogs in a dog fighting ring because Lucas will greet people with a friendly nature waiting to see who is going to give him a dog treat. Matter of fact, the only thing that remains the same about Lucas’s awful past is the fact that he has scars on his neck and face but they are even fading as well.

Lucas’s other companions from the dog fights are doing well, also. Some of them have even gone to foster homes and their new owners adore them and would never think about making them relive their past. Also, even though Lucas is not able to be adopted he does get to interact with humans and he seems very happy.

This is just such a touching story and it shows that dogs are not naturally mean hearted even if they are pit bulls. I just love happy endings to stories, don’t you?
