Do Cats Chat With Dogs?

I have a three year old Timber Wolf (fully grown and 140 pounds) and a tabby/rag doll kitten that is about a year old. Two of the last breeds that you would ever expect to be best friends: a wolf and a kitten. However, they are the best of friends. Most of the time, my cat will come up to my wolf and meow over and over again, in a tone that is distinctly reserved just for their cat chatter. The wolf will just sniff and smile back (panting), typically leading to some play between the pair. They are the best of friends. They frequently communicate and there is an obvious aura of affection that exists between them. Yes indeed, cats chat with dogs and vice versa!

How Cats Chat with Dogs
After enjoying the luxury of having a cat and a wolf that are best friends, I have realized that cats communicate with dogs nearly the same way that they cat chat with human beings. If the dog is pissing off the cat, a louder, higher pitched tone of meow will stop him in his tracks, lest he get his delicate and tender nose scratched. A squeaky, short meow and a tail swipe with kitten’s paws typically means he wants to play with the wolf. Then there are times that I like to call “The Show Down.” This is where they stare at each other, both from a few feet away, the cat saying, “Catch me if you can buddy!” Then the race is on. Of course, the cat always manages to get away. Case and point: my cat chats with my wolf, and they even have developed a pattern of games from their back and forth banter.

Viral Video of Cat and Dog Being Best of Friends
Contrary to the popular and assumed belief that cats and dogs are forever each other nemesis and sworn enemies, this video (below) begs to offer indifference. Rather, in the right situation, most cats and dogs will grow to become best friends. In this viral video – which we have imbedded below, and that was featured on Yahoo’s home page recently – a now famous cat and dog demonstrate their affection for one another. Indeed, cats chat with dogs and vice versa. Sometimes, however, just like humans they won’t get along. But, in most cases they can become fast friends, like the pair depicted below!
