Dating has Gone to the Dogs

Internet dating has soared in popularity over the years and the number of dating websites is constantly on the rise. Along with traditional dating websites, there are an ever increasing number of sites that specialize in finding romantic matches for particular groups of people. Some of these websites cater to single parents, people interested in interracial dating, those from various ethnic backgrounds, same sex dating, people looking for a "Sugar Daddy " or "Sugar Mama", and now Internet dating has extended itself to pets, of all things. Yes, dating truly has gone to the dogs!

Sites like Date My Pet have entered the scene and I for one am a bit confused. I am not sure if this is just a gimmick thought up by some overzealous pet lovers who are sitting back raking in the dough all the while laughing it up over kibbles and coffee, or a simple twist on marketing and public relations gone awry. On the other hand, I do not want to sound too cynical; perhaps pet dating sites are a good way for shy pet owners to hook up with like minded individuals under the guise of finding a play mate (soul mate?) for their pets.

The website has a lot of pet and dating articles, to help both dogs and humans with their interactions with others, as well as many dating tips. I wonder if carrying apooper -scooper to dinner and the movies is among them. It's a standard feature on most dating sites, but the humor that is sprinkled through the site (do you want to view comments in Pig Latin?) is refreshing and could help anxious newbies to feel more comfortable.

Must Love Pets is another site which tries to match up single dog lovers from around the country, although their site seems to have got a little confused over their focus, with car related graphics featuring more than animal ones?

Taking the concept of dog dating a bit more literally is the site My Dog Dating , which has been set up to try and find play dates for lonely, single dogs.

Doggie Dating make no bones about it (pun intended) that their site is designed to try to help make romantic matches for dogs and bitches looking for 'love'.

I was a bit surprised, and relieved to not find any real canine match-making sites offering stud dogs, or prize winning bitches for breeding matches in my research into dog dating.  Dog breeding (as I have been informed) is a serious business, that requires a lot of expertise to ensure the health of both the breeding pair and any puppies, so finding a gimmicky site aimed purely at making money would have made me question the ethics of such canny marketing tactics.

If you, or your pet are looking for a bit of companionship, then any one of these sites (and the many others) may be able to help you find like minded people with who you can be sure that you have at least one common interest.
